Non-traditional gift ideas for Baby's 1st Christmas. These are not toys, but keepsakes and the start of future traditions for the new family.

Gift Ideas for Baby’s 1st Christmas

1 | Snowman Luxe Velvet Stocking: One of the very first things you should plan for is a stocking.  Our mom made each of us a beautifully embroidered stocking that was part of the traditional holiday atmosphere in our home. We still use our special stockings to this day.  If you choose to buy instead of making your own, then this is one of those times to invest in quality that will last a lifetime. When our 2nd son was born we invested in matching Pottery Barn stockings that we had personalized with their names. We LOVE them!

2 | Baby’s 1st Christmas Ornament: Everyone I know has about five “Baby’s 1st Christmas” ornaments…I know all of us do.  Hallmark has a pretty cute one if that’s more your style. Whatever you choose, just make sure not to forget this one important gift.  Your baby will thank you someday!

3 | Simba Soft Bristle Silicone Baby Toothbrush with Milk Residue/Fur Scrubber:  This is the perfect stocking stuffer for a baby!  We always do a new toothbrush in stockings, so it’s perfect!  This one is really a great 1st toothbrush to get started early with good oral hygiene!

4 | The Night Before Christmas Picture Book: We are all about tradition in our family and one that I love is wrapping up Christmas Eve with story time!  Every year we read “The Night Before Christmas” aloud gathered around as a family before ushering the kiddos off to bed. I highly recommend this beautiful version!

5 | Elephant Plush Thumbie:  First Christmas’ are interesting.  Everyone wants to shower the new addition with gifts, but Baby is usually too little to play with toys or really appreciate the offerings.  So my ‘go-to’ is to always select either practical everyday items, keepsakes, or a combination.  This one can really serve as a combination.  This is a high quality “blankie”/stuffed animal combination that you can have personalized.  We did this for both of our boys and they are great!  You can even buy the matching rattle!

6 | Night Night Organic Cotton Sleeper [Hanna Red/White]: Another big tradition in our house is savoring the season and one way we do this is holiday PJ’s! Every year before Thanksgiving we purchase holiday PJ’s from Hanna Andersson.  And they last through the season (and beyond)!  You can find a matching set for your whole family if you choose to!  But we normally just coordinate the boys.  And they make the cutest photos for holiday cards or just for your Instagram feed!

7 | Felt Christmas Tree Set: I love this idea to bring some holiday cheer to the nursery or the playroom.  This also grows with your child, so by their 2nd Christmas they can probably decorate this themselves and will be so proud to be able to participate in trimming their own tree!

8 | The Itsy Bitsy Snowman Board Book: We all know how important it is to read to our kiddos from birth, so why not incorporate the seasons & holidays!  This is a super cute winter holiday board book that you can read to your babe when winter rolls around for the next few years.  This also makes a great + affordable stocking stuffer!

9 | Letters to Santa Red Velvet Santa Bags: Back to tradition again!  Now is the time to plan & implement your Santa strategy that you will need to stick with for the next 10+ years, so it’s critical to start off on the right foot. You might want to consider is investing in a huge Santa sack for housing those larger gifts that are sure to come in the next few years.  Most of these can be personalized and add so much charm to your tree!

10 | Hallmark Keepsake 2017 Cozy Critters Christmas Ornament (First in Series): This is another tradition to consider and is one that my Aunt/Godmother started for me when I was a baby.  She bought & sent me a Hallmark Keepsake ornament from the same series.  So I have a million Hallmark ornaments with these cute little mice!  I treasure them & enjoyed putting them on the tree each year.  Try finding a series that is just starting this year like the one featured.

* I hope that we’ve given you some gift-giving inspiration for Baby’s 1st Christmas!  Please also feel free to reach out if you have questions or need a more specific recommendation!  Take care + happy giving!!

And remember…make your purchases using Ebates for the possibility of receiving a cash-back rebate!
