May 2018 Small Blog Income Report

Welcome! May 2018 marked Frugal Nesting’s 2 year anniversary.

I cannot believe that it’s been 2 years already! My how time does fly…it goes almost as fast as watching your kiddos grow up!

And I figured what better way to celebrate than to try a stab at my first “official” income report. I say “official” in quotes because I did publish one or two lame attempts at an income report way back when I first started.

It was just pennies back then and I was just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what would stick. But now it will be an official part of my editorial calendar, so you’ll be able to see the good, the bad, and the ugly! Let’s cross our fingers for more of the good!

Why Publish An Income Report?

Well, there are a number of reasons, including:

It’s a great excuse for me to sit down each month to see what is working, what is not, and where I landed for the month.
I love reading other people’s income reports. I find them fascinating, but they are getting harder to find. So why not make my own?
It can be helpful for newer bloggers to see one example like this from a smaller blog.
And it will be fun to see the change over time.

May 2018 Blogging Income Update

Before expenses, I earned $437.53 blogging in May 2018!

I’m super stoked about that number, isn’t it darn close to $500? That’s what I see anyway!

May 2018 has been the most financially lucrative month so far in my blogging journey. I still cannot believe that it’s possible to make money like this from a blog. Can you? It’s just crazy to me!

Anyway, I’m very curious to see what the next few months hold income wise. June hasn’t started off quite as well as May ended, but it’s still good.

My goal for the year is to implement all of the appropriate systems to maximize my productivity. I want to work smarter, not harder. Isn’t that the dream?

How Are Things Going at Frugal Nesting?

Things are booming! To the point where I’m kind of overwhelmed!

I just switched from what I consider to be the best beginner host, Bluehost, to Siteground, because I needed a more robust option to handle our growth. My goal is to hit 50,000 monthly pageviews before the end of 2018 and I need to be ready for that volume.

Frugal Nesting also underwent a significant facelift this month. We went from a free WordPress theme (Adelle) to the Genesis framework using the Captivating child theme by Restored316. I’m very happy with the results, even though I am still learning some of the new features!

I’m currently in the process of moving my mailing list from MailChimp to MailerLite. And am setting up some automation and other fun things for my newsletter. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to go with a weekly newsletter or biweekly…thoughts?
