Knee Length Dress Cardigan Maxi
What kind of pregnant woman are you? Are you the happy, glowing mama-to-be? Are you the pregnant lady who’s just been over it since the time of morning sickness?
What’s your pregnancy style? Loose and relaxed? Form fitting & fabulous? A bit of both?
I’m going to be honest with you. I was that totally obnoxious pregnant lady who LOVES being pregnant! Everyone makes fun of me about it, but I just embrace it!
I love the way I look when I’m expecting, I love the way I feel (after 12 weeks) and I love how everyone is super nice to you when you’re pregnant! It’s like you’re kind of like royalty…ha!
Spring Maternity Capsule Wardrobe
Anyway, part of feeling good while you’re pregnant is how you dress. Comfort is a MUST, but so is looking good. Our confidence can take a hit when we’re carrying around the puffiness and weight of pregnancy. So looking and feeling great are just sooo important.
There are a few things that I learned from two pregnancies and I would like to pass that knowledge along to you. Here are my tips for the perfect Spring maternity capsule wardrobe.
First DRESSES.
Even if you do not typically wear dresses, you need to start. There will come a time in your pregnancy when you realize that you just can’t.
You just can’t mess with all the odds + ends and pieces + parts that it takes to look great. Dresses are a pregnancy fashion hack! Long maxi dress, shorter knee length dresses…all the dresses!
All you have to do is pull one over your head and you’re dressed. Easy!
I love form fitting dresses because they highlight the fact that you are pregnant…not just chubby. And they are super flattering as your bump grows. You can dress them up or down easily with a jean jacket, sweater, scarf, etc.
Second Basics
The key to a maternity wardrobe is keeping it simple, basic and interchangeable. All you need is one or two pairs of jeans, the same with leggings and maybe a pair of cute sweats or joggers. Throw on a cute mama-to-be tee or a cute flowy top and you are on your way. You can mix and match with a chambray shirt, cardigan, hoodie, scarf, etc.
Third Accessories
One thing you must have is sandals. I wore my sandals through the end of November, even walking in the snow because my feet got bigger and were oh so swollen.
Birkies are super comfy or you could just grab a pair of simple gold flip-flops. You also want a cute pair of tennies and comfortable flats that can get you through more formal situations.
You also need all the scarves. Just collect them. I promise you will use them!
And a crossbody bag is a must-have so you’re not having to carry or keep adjusting any other kind.
As far as jewelry goes, get used to going small & simple. You won’t be able to wear those big dangly earrings and that cute necklace anymore. Sticky, grubby little hands love to grab and pull. So I say just get a cute pair or two of studs that you can love for about 3 years and just run with them!
And on a final note, undergarments. You might as well buy your nursing bra now as you expand in that area. And my other must-have for under those dresses: maternity Spanx! Life-saver!
You’re Beautiful Mama
This simple advice for a basic Spring maternity capsule wardrobe is based on comfort and style. I bought all of my maternity dresses from Old Navy and they have similar cute styles consistently. I truly hope these tips and recommendations make you feel fabulous as you enjoy your pregnancy!
