The Partnership Between Helicopter Parents and Universities – The Atlantic – Frugal Nesting

Uncategorized

I am a self admitted “helicopter parent”, but prefer to think of myself as simply a detail oriented mother subscribing to attachment parenting theory.  Keep in mind that my boys are still little, so I am trying to securely establish their roots in order for them to blossom later on.  My goal is to step back by the time they head off to college in an effort to become more of, what this article calls, a “paremedic” parent.  I also work in higher ed and find this article quite fascinating!  What are your thoughts…?

Many public universities now rely heavily on parents—particularly those with money, time, and connections—to meet their basic needs.
